Guide: Linking a siggy.

I have been trying for many month’s to do this and when I finally succeeded I wanted to make a guide on how to link up a siggy. For the life of me I just couldn’t understand all the guides out there so I made this one taking into consideration that there is no knowledge of how to do it.

CS5 was used and clicking the images will open a new tab.

01
Open the siggy;
01

02
On the left there is an icon, the slice tool;
02

03
Choose the ‘Slice Tool’ in the middle;
03

04
If you don’t see one, go to ‘View/Show/-Slices’;
04

05
With the slice tool, start at point 1 and drag the tool down to point 2;
05

06
Continue doing so for each slice you want. The exact size does not matter yet as it can be fixed after you are done choosing the slices;
06

07
When you are done go back to the slice icon and choose the bottom one, the ‘Slice Select Tool’;
07

08
Choose the first slice;
08

09
With the keyboard arrow you can move the slice;
09

10
Make sure the line is not thick but thin and as it may cause a thin empty space;
10

11
Continue doing so for each slice. As in this image it was a bit high so I just used the arrows to bring it down a bit;
11

12
All the slices should be in perfect order;
12

13
Go to ‘File/Save For Web Sites’;
13

14
Change the Image Size to 700/150. Point 1 is the Optimize, point 2 is the format and point 3 is how it looks;
14

15
Press on each slice starting with the first one, point 1. Go to point 2 and change to ‘png-24’;
15

16
Go through each slice changing to ‘png-24’;
16

17;
When you are done, save in the folder of the psd file. You will see a new folder called ‘images’. In this folders are all the slices but of course you won’t be needing them all. As you can see some ‘image/slices’ are transparent. [My images were saved in Photoshop format and I had to convert them to open with preview for Mac]. Delete those;
17

After you have the exact images/slices you want, upload them in the order you want to a hosting site like ImageShack or PhotoBucket.
In GS, go to Edit Signature. Press the little image icon and in the order you want add the links you have from the hosting site.
After all the images/slices are up, choose each image/slice you want linked and add a link.
Go for preview signature and there goes a linked up siggy.

I hope this guide will be of help! Any questions please ask and I would be more than happy to help out.
